K 120 (L 215) in d-moll, Allegrissimo. "This is where Scarlatti pushes his hand crossings to their limits. The sonata is exceptionally dificult when played up to tempo, i.e. Allegrissimo.” (Begleitbuch zu Scarlatti The Sonatas Scott Ross, Erato Disques 1988,S.88). Man merkts (eigentlich nicht), Ross und Rövenstrunck meistern es mühelos. "Es scheint Scarlatti hierbei nicht nur auf das kindische Vergnügen des visuellen Effekts anzukommen, sondern auf das tänzerische Gefühl körperlicher Freiheit zu Sprüngen, das sich auf den Hörer überträgt, nicht nur visuell, sondern auch akustisch." (Kirkpatrick 1972,S.221). Scarlatti at his best, das swingt beinahe und hat drive!

K 119 (L 415) in D-Dur, Allegro.Kirkpatrick weist bei dieser Sonate auf die Acciaccaturen und Akkordbrechungen sowie auf "unmerkliche Übergänge von kleineren zu größeren Klangmassierungen" hin (siehe 1972,S.259,286,313). Auf dem Cembalo von Ross gespielt ist es ein Feuerwerk! Deutlich sind auch Kastagnetten zu hören. Olé!

K 118 (L 122) in D-Dur, Non presto. "The steady Non presto Kk 118 serves as a prelude to the almost incredible outbursts of Kk 119 where Scarlatti achieves a crescendo by increasing the weight of the obsessively-repeated chords. The first chord consists of three notes, and these are gradually increased until they reach as many as eleven." (Begleitbuch zu Scarlatti The Sonatas Scott Ross, Erato Disques 1988,S.88). Ein schönes Präludium!
