She was sent to Theresienstadt, then deported to Auschwitz and selected for slave labor. Throughout these devastating experiences, she held onto a small slip of paper printed with her favorite piece of music by J. S. Bach. She was liberated from Bergen-Belsen and gradually returned to music, becoming a world-renowned harpsichordist.
